As part of its expansion plans, London Biggin Hill airport commissioned ComRes to research local public perceptions of the airport to inform their community engagement strategy.
ComRes used quantitative techniques, identifying difference in opinion between key demographic groups. Life-stage and location of the public were important factors, and samples were split to reflect this. Qualitative focus groups further informed the client’s engagement strategy by giving a detailed understanding of the types of activities the public would like to see from Biggin Hill for a variety of age groups. Subsequent events such as ‘the Biggin Hill festival of flight’ have helped to position Biggin Hill as a positive part of the local area, and of the UK.
