A survey of 16-25 year residents in the UK about 'hidden homelessness' and sofa surfing.
  • Two in five (41%) 16-25 year olds in the UK have personally experienced sofa-surfing at some point, a third (33%) of whom say they did this for less than a week.
  • The main reason cited for sofa surfing is parents being unable or unwilling to house (23% of those who have sofa-surfed say this). Over half (56%) of 16-25 year olds in the UK say they have friends or family who have sofa-surfed.

Methodology
ComRes surveyed 1,003 people in the UK online aged 16-25 between 1st and 5th December. Data were sampled and weighted to be representative of all people in the UK aged 16-25 by age, gender and region. ComRes is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.
