Survey of the British public on behalf of DECC on the topic of energy bills
  • Only 6% of the general public think they could save £200 or more by switching their energy supplier – on average people think they could save £83.
  • Overall, 77% of Britons say they are personally responsible for their household energy bill. This translates to 53% of men, and 47% of women.
  • The mean average amount that British adults think they could save per year on their energy bill by switching supplier is £83.12. On average, women think it is possible to save more than men do (£90.91 vs £76.91).

ComRes interviewed 2,004 GB adults online between the 18th and 20th September 2015. Data were weighted to be representative of all GB adults aged 18+.
